Um.. sorry about the dramatic title, that’s just the forensic scientist in me. My post may not be as dramatic as the title suggests, but I wanted to explore the controversy surrounding synthetic preservatives in cosmetics, in particular the use of parabens, and to judge with my own opinion whether this controversy and the associated scaremongering marketing tactic is justified by real science and critical judgement.
If you’re anything of a skincare junkie like me, you’ll have seen the term ‘Vitamin C’ floating around. Initially heralding as one of the most important vitamins in our diet, the skincare industry has really taken advantage of the powerful properties of this vitamin to produce topical treatments for healthy, youthful-looking skin. I’ve always felt like I’ve had good long lashes, but as they grow downwards I’ve always had to rely on using eyelash curlers to lift up my lashes to new heights and make my eyes pop. However, I don’t particularly enjoy using them, and we’ve all seen the horror stories floating around the internet of people ripping out their eyelashes or cutting their lashes with their eyelash curlers. In this post, I’ll go over my experiences with getting an eyelash lift treatment from Exotic Beauty by Liz here in Adelaide, going over what’s involved and what my results were!

I’m not putting acid on my face!’ But you know, I don’t blame them! HA is just one of those buzzwords that gets thrown around everywhere without a proper explanation of what it is or how it works.

They come with the promise that their kits are a cheap, effective, easy to use and safe way of whitening your teeth at home so that you can avoid expensive professional teeth whitening.
It’s a real no-brainer that cleansing our skin is one of the most crucial steps in our skincare regime, so a system that makes cleansing a more effective and safe process is the ultimate tool for healthy skin. One technology that has gained huge popularity since its inception is the use of sonic cleansing appliances. So many people have bought into the hype of sonic cleaning brushes – but do they really know how they actually work or what makes them so beneficial for our skin?
