Right, when I said on Instagram that I wouldn’t be able to make any more Christmas-related posts, I lied. Not intentionally might I add. But things changed when I started to think about how I wanted to do my makeup for Christmas day this year, and it just occurred to me that it might be something I wanted to share with you all. I recently increased my collection of MAC Cosmetics, and I drew inspiration from my makeup look with many of those products. My look will be focusing on golds, bronzes and bright reds with glowy skin. It’s simple, classy and effective so all ages and skill levels can achieve this look.

Let’s start things off with a primer! I use the Prep + Prime Skin mixed in with Prep + Prime Natural Radiance in Pink. The standard primer is really good for my oily skin, helping to keep my shine at bay but still adding a little radiance to the complexion. For the foundation I’m using, I’ll need an extra kick of hydration, so the Natural Radiance primer is mixed in to help keep the skin smooth and plump for foundation application and wear.

Next up, I sweep some Strobe Cream in Peachlite across my cheekbone, nose, chin and forehead to add some life and radiance into a somewhat flat complexion. I find Peachlite to be my favourite shade of Strobe Creams, it’s a beautifully soft and brightening glow with just a hint of warmth.

Using Studio Fix Fluid* foundation in N5, I coat my face in a light layer of foundation and blend in with a damp Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. Studio Fix Fluid has a medium coverage buildable to full, perfect for me! I am usually not one for full coverage foundations, and because I want my skin to look quite radiant and glowy with the Strobe Cream popping up through the foundation, this works really well.

Another lie, I don’t have a MAC concealer, so technically it’s not an all-MAC look! But instead I’ll be using my Maybelline Fit Me concealer and blending that in with a mini Real Techniques sponge before setting it with the Laura Mercier translucent powder.

For this look, I’m not looking to contour or bronze my face, as I want my eyes and lips to be the main focus. Instead, I’ll add some warmth into my base by using the Mineralize Blush* in ‘Warm Soul’. I don’t want to add too much colour into my cheeks. I generally don’t use blush with a lot of colour, I like them to be as neutral and natural as possible so ‘Warm Soul’ ticks all my boxes. It has a slight sheen to it’s finish which makes you cheeks look naturally glowy as well – it’s not a flat matte.

And for the pièce de résistance of my base, I’m adding the Mineralise Skinfinish* in ‘Soft and Gentle’ to cheekbone and eye area in a ‘C’ shape, finishing at the arch of my brow to add some more structure to my base and give me a real glow. This paired with the strobe cream underneath adds such a beautiful radiance to the complexion without looking chunky or glittery. I’m here wondering why on earth it took me so long to finally get this, but I’m glad I have it now. Spritz some MAC Fix+ at this point and the complexion becomes seamless and perfected.

Despite MAC releasing a holiday collection every year, I found I wanted to use the classic products for this look based on golds and reds rather than the coppers and pinks out this year for Christmas. So for the eyes, I’m using the 15 x Warm Neutral eyeshadow palette, focusing on the golds, champagnes and bronzes. I love this palette for creating party looks, it’s got a beautiful range of shimmers and mattes and I used this solely for this look. I do have hooded eyes which can make creating eye looks quite a difficult task, but I tried my best!

I used ‘Saddle’, an orange golden brown with a matte finish for my transition shade. Next up, I focused ‘Creative Copper’, a frosted golden lustre after spraying with Fix+ for added depth and foil and holy cow, I wish my camera captured it better because this was intense and exactly what I was after for my Christmas look. It basically resembled gold tinsel. Love this shade! For the inner corner, I used ‘Vanilla Extract’ as a highlight. Finally, I added the smallest touch of ‘Dance in the Dark’ (matte dark brown) to the outer corner, making sure to maintain the intensity of the lid.

I wanted a wing for this look so used the Fluidline eyeliner to give me a sharp and intense liner. For the bottom lash line, I took ‘Saddle’ again and blended underneath, followed by mascara. For this, I used the False Lashes Maximiser, which is a mascara primer to add extra length and volume, and then coated my primed lashes with the Extended Play Lash mascara. I reeeeeally love this mascara, the wand is super long and skinny so gets in to all the tight places in your lashes. To finish off the eye area I used the ‘Eye Brows’ pencil in ‘Lingering’ and ‘Brow Set’ gel for my eyebrows.

Can it really be a Mac Christmas makeup look without the iconic Ruby Woo? Didn’t think so, so I went for this bright intense red to make my look festive and it turned out beautifully. Of course, being a matte formula I primed my lips with the Lips Prep + Prime to make it glide onto the lips and keep them hydrated. A winner combo!

To jazz it up, I added some gorgeous Christmas earrings that I picked up from Target, how cute are they?! Note: I just had my first hole re-pierced, hence why they were worn in the second hole. And, if you didn’t notice, I also went for a Christmas theme for my nails as well, using the Gelicious gel nail polishes to make them look like Christmas lights, I really like the way they turned out.

And here is the finished look! I love the way it all came together. Super simple, but an easy way to add some festivity into my makeup this Christmas. I love the combo of the golds, champagnes and the red lip, and I’m super keen to do it all again on the day!

I’m hoping you love the look as much as I do! It all came together so nicely and in an usual event, the eyeshadow actually stayed in place all day and night on my oily eyelids. Fix+ is a saviour!

    1. The eyeshadow palette is a definite winner. It’s also pretty good for traveling because although it’s a little bigger than travel palettes, it’s still really sleek and lightweight. Plus, the shades are so lust-worthy. I love how you can create whole looks with it.

    1. Aww thank you Maddie! That’s so nice of you to say. I definitely love sharing these type of posts, I’ve done an Autumn look before as well. They just take soooo freaking long to photograph! You have to stop at each step and then take several shots for the perfect photo and it takes hours haha.

Ruby Woo is such a winner. If you are looking for a cruelty-free alternative, True Love from Karen Murrell is absolutely gorgeous and I compare it to Ruby Woo too. It’s just not a matte finish. You can now find them in Priceline! Definitely worth checking out.

  3. Love it! So classic. Warm soul and soft and gentle are two of my faves! I tend not to wear much makeup on Christmas day – too much veging out at home and stuffing my face! I love going all out for Christmas parties though!
