Welcome back beauties!
This post is the next long-awaited instalment of my product empties series, where I chat about products I’ve used up and give a short verdict for if I’ll repurchase or not. I’ve chosen to do these posts quarterly, because I am naturally horrendous at committing to emptying products I’ve opened and monthly posts wouldn’t be interesting with one or two empties…
This time around, there are 18 products being thrown into my cardboard box for disposal! Last time, my empties were heavily makeup-based. But this time, I went well with skincare and body care.
HydroSkin Cleanser ($35)* + C Moisturiser ($75)*
If you’ve read my previous post on Hyaluronic Acid and HydroSkin, you’d know how much I liked the range from HydroSkin. The cleanser is a gentle yet super effective cleanser that really respects your skin. I’d definitely look into re-purchasing. The moisturiser was one of the more heavier moisturisers I’ve used so I only applied it at night because it took a while to absorb into the skin. I probably wouldn’t re-purchase, just because I do like lighter moisturisers that I can use both day and night.
LUSH Dream Cream ($29.95/240g)
So, only now do I realise this probably should have been in my ‘Body Care’ category, but hindsight is a beautiful thing! I actually struggled to finish this, because I didn’t have enough motivation to use it. It’s just a ‘meh’ kind of moisturiser. Smells okay, adds hydration, but it wasn’t exciting or hydrating enough for me. Wouldn’t re-purchase.
LUSH Mask of Magnaminty* ($35.95/315g)
This took sooo long to finish, as the tub is huge! But I was so happy I succumbed to the hype of others because I looooove this! It makes my skin feel so smooth, refreshed but hydrated and CLEAR! I also used it as a gentle face scrub, leaving it on for a minute or two before washing off and it worked really well. The boyfriend loved it too. Would definitely re-purchase.
Garnier Micellar Water ($6.95/125ml)
I love using micellar water, and have used quite a few in my time. This one was okay, but it’s probably my least favourite micellar water I’ve used. It works, but it seems ‘soapy’ to me, and leaves a little residue where others like my Bioderma one don’t. Wouldn’t repurchase.
Swisse Skin Care Deep Sea Hydrating Mist Toner ($9.99)
This was a sample I was given in a Bellabox, and it lived on my desk at work until it was used up. Sitting in front of a computer all day can make my skin feel tight and hot so I always sprayed this when I needed some freshening up. It smells really lovely too. However, I wouldn’t re-purchase because I’m a die hard fan of the Jurlique Rosewater mist.
Baimeni Eye and Face Serum with Hyaluronic Acid ($25)
As a small brand, I’ve never really heard or seen much about Baimeni, but again this sample came in a Bellabox. I really loved the texture of this serum. It was so weightless but hydrating and absorbed almost instantly into my skin. The smell was so beautiful too. But I really can’t decide if I’d re-purchase. It’s a good serum, but not amazing – you know?
Dr Hauschka Revitalising Mask ($79)
This was a sample face mask I was given at a blogging event, and had never really used much of Dr Hauschka before then. I took this mask away with me travelling and it did the job. Hydrated well. But not really that exciting. Plus, it’s on the pricey side. Probably wouldn’t re-purchase.
Kerasilk Ultra Rich Keratin Care Shampoo ($58)
I was given this when I had a keratin treatment in a salon, as it was meant to the best product to prolong the treatment. It is a really nice shampoo, and the conditioner for it was in my last empties post. They are a really good duo and I kept on using it even when I noticed my Keratin treatment was wearing off. But, they are so expensive! I can’t afford to spend $60 each on a shampoo and conditioner, so no I wouldn’t (I mean couldn’t) repurchase.
Evo Water Killer Dry Shampoo ($35.95)
Okay, I admit it, I used dry shampoo – which I actually said I wouldn’t do in my ‘ I Quit Dry Commercial Dry Shampoo’ post…
But I have a strong love for Evo haircare, and this dry shampoo really was great. The problem I have with other dry shampoos is that they are so HEAVY on my scalp and make it feel so gross (I’m looking at you Batiste). I would re-purchase, as hard as that is to say!
LUSH Fairly Traded Honey Shampoo ($14.95) and Veganese Conditioner ($13.95)
I was given these samples in store after I mentioned to an employee that I really wanted to find something for my oily hair. Fairly Traded Honey is such an interesting shampoo, it smells like pure honey, it just as thick as pure honey, but it isn’t sticky like pure honey. It really cleans my scalp well, but I can’t say too much about whether it helps with my oil because I didn’t have enough to get my hair used to it. After using the sample I really want to purchase the full size.
Veganese was offered because it is the lightest conditioner in their range and so would be the best for avoiding weighing down my hair. It smells really herbal and earthy but I really like it. I would consider purchasing this one too.
Burt’s Bees Tinted Replenishing Lip Balm ($6.99)
First up, is the Burt’s Bees tinted lip balm in ‘Pomegranate’. It’s not really makeup, but it adds a nice pink tint to my lips so it kinda is! It’s hydrating, but I was hoping the scent was a little sweeter. Not the best lip balm, I have many others which I love, so I wouldn’t repurchase.
Rimmel Wonder’full Argan Oil Mascara ($18.95)
The first time I used this, I hated it! It did nothing for my lashes and I chucked it at the bottom of my drawer. I then returned to it a few weeks later when I wanted a ‘barely there’ look to my lashes and it was then that I realised it was actually a really good mascara for everyday use. It adds just enough volume to make your eyes pop and your lashes defined, but it isn’t over the top. I find it’s a really good everyday wear kind of mascara. Still, I probably wouldn’t repurchase because I have so many others I prefer much more.
Benefit Cosmetics Rollerlash Mascara ($42)
This has made my list of all time favourite mascaras and it’s one I go back to all the time. For me, it’s so dependable and so much better than any other Benefit Cosmetics mascaras. I’ve had so many samples of this, and I’ve finished off the full size, and then repurchased it off a friend of mine (who actually has tried a sample before and didn’t like it). So yes, would re-purchase!
Natura Siberica Revitalising Bath Salts ($14.99)
These smell so beautiful and the scent is perfect for relaxing. I love adding these to a hot bath when my muscles feel tired and overworked. They make for a really relaxing bath and fill the house with their scent. Would re-purchase!
Mitchum Clinical Gel Deodorant ($12.95)
I was given this to trial on Beauty Heaven and initially fell in love with it. The smells is so nice, it’s scented like baby powder and the gel is such an interesting product to use as a deodorant. I have since purchased the original roll on deodorant from these guys and love that even more so I wouldn’t repurchase this if the roll on was available.
LUSH Happy Hippy Shower Gel ($7.95/100g)
This is such a bright and bubbly shower gel, the scent is super zingy and citrus-y, but it does remind both my partner and I of dish washing liquid. It’s fresh and doesn’t strip the skin, but I love so many other shower gel and cream scents more that I wouldn’t go back for this. Wouldn’t repurchase.
Colgate Optic High Impact White ($9.99)
This is one of the few whitening toothpastes I’ve actually noticed a difference with, and it’s super affordable too. It does take a few goes to actually notice a change in the shade of my teeth but once it started working it’s magic it was really good. I have since found an Oral B toothpaste for gum health that actually works BETTER than any whitening toothpaste I’ve used and doesn’t have any peroxide in it? Awesome! So won’t be repurchasing this one I think as I’d prefer to stay away from peroxide.
And that completes this empties post! Spot any faves? Or spot any products you’ve been itching to try out? Let me know in the comment section below!
