The season of luuuuuurve is upon us, and LUSH is stepping in as love doctor once again this year by providing all the goods to spice things up just that little bit more. Whether you’re celebrating the day of love with your partner, or wallowing in your single life pleasures, pampering yourself (and your loved one) is always important and the perfect time to do so is now thanks to the 2018 LUSH Valentine’s Day collection available in stores and online until 14th February.
As usual, this 2018 limited edition range features some all-time V-Day favourites, as well as some exciting newcomers that will get your heart pumping. An important characteristic to note in this collection is LUSH’s earth-conscious move towards package-free products (only the lip products are packaged), and if you’ve been keeping up with me on my socials lately you will know how aware I’ve become of our waste burden on the environment, so this was a move I got really excited about.
If you’re wanting a bit of an insight into a bath connoisseur’s first impressions from some of the Valentine’s Day specials, then you’ve come to the right place.
Tisty Tosty Bath Bomb
While not exactly a new kid on the block, this old favourite returns with a new formula (and a new look) for this Valentine’s Day. I was always such a fan of the OG Tisty Tosty because I’m a sucker for anything with roses in it. To be honest I prefer the look of the original, the white contrasted really nicely with the roses and made them pop in the bath bomb. BUT, I prefer the scent of this one more because I feel like it’s more intense than the original, so I think they’ve made a good decision to reformulate.
The thing I love most about this bath bomb is the Orris Root Powder, it adds such an alluring woody scent to the mix and kinda reminds me of my favourite perfume, Lancome Hypnose. So overall you get the floral notes of rose and jasmine, mixed in with some woody Orris Root to create one of the most lust-inducing aromas. Plus, watching the rose buds expel from the bath bomb as it fizzes is such a satisfying marvel. An olfactory and very visually appealing experience this was!
Heart of Enlightened Expectations Bath Melt
I don’t use bath melts as much as I should, and I don’t really know why because every time I do revisit them I am reminded of how good they are. This bath melt is a new addition this year, and it was one of the most exciting products for me this Valentine’s Day. If you have read any of my previous posts that involves fragrances, you’d know that bergamot is one of my favourite notes ever. It’s so delicate, soft and calming and that’s exactly what I get from this bath melt. I love the pop of orange in the colour of this melt, it cuts through the all the vibrant pink in the rest of the range. The fragrance is still floral, but it isn’t as sweet and girly as some of the other products, so it’s good for your male counterparts if they want to join in a bath with you. Cocoa butter will layer on your skin afterwards for hydration, so just patting down with a towel will remove some of the residue if you’re not keen on that.
Unicorn Bubble Bath Bar
Now this one, I am excited to see return once again because I stocked up on this last year. Apart from the visual marvel of the rainbow-swirled horn, this bubble bath bar has a more delicate, refined scent mix featuring soothing lavender, ylang ylang and uplifting neroli (also one of my personal fave fragrance notes). You’ll get a more gentle scent, a surplus of fluffy bubbles and gorgeous pale-pink water to immerse yourself in.
Melt My Heart Massage Bar
I have only one body product to share with you in this post, and that’s the glorious addition of this massage bar. Now I freaking love the LUSH massage bars (Wiccy Magic and Scrubee are unbelievable), so this one was welcomed with a warm embrace snuggled tightly to my chest. Again featuring the woody aroma of Orris Root, this time it’s paired Cypress Oil, Violet leaf, Olibanum and Orange Flower absolute. It’s a herbal scent mix which I usually don’t go for UNLESS it’s a massage bar because I find it so much more effective at calming and relaxing you then a lot of other scents in LUSH ranges. Love love love the massage bars, and it’s a simple gift you can give your loved one because everyone loves a good massage.
Tunnel of Love Soap
I don’t usually get that excited about soap bars – I am definitely someone who prefers a creamy shower gel. But the man loves a good soap bar, so the new Tunnel of Love soap bar still has a home in our bathroom. Being a predominately citrus scent, it also adds some freshness to the Valentine’s Day range although it’s still a sweet citrus scent so all you sweet tooths out there like me will still love this scent. The texture seems a lot softer than the previous LUSH bars I’ve used, as well as having a stronger lather so it’s one of my more liked soap bars from LUSH. This soap contains rosewater and kaolin clay to deeply cleanse the skin. The ‘stuffing’ inside it as I like to call it features lime, sweet orange oils and olibanum to coat your skin in a layer of goodness to condition after cleansing.
Tender is the Night Naked Shower Cream
After the introduction of the ‘Naked’, packaging-free range that LUSH released late last year, I stocked up on some solid Twilight and Santa’s Christmas during the boxing day sales and I must say that while they aren’t as practical as your usual shower cream in a bottle, I’m digging the whole concept of the Naked range in reducing plastic waste and love using my solid shower creams! They still break down nicely in water to lather on your skin into a creamy shower gel. You just have to be more careful about storing these in a way that they don’t melt from heat or dissolve from water.
Tender is the Night is such a delicate and creamy floral scent. Ylang ylang and jasmine make it floral, and vanilla absolute, shea butter and murumuru butter add the creaminess factor for on overall balanced fragrance that appeals to both Mr Beauty & the Geek and I, and is our top pick from the range this year. It’s just as conditioning to the skin as my other packaged shower creams from LUSH, and you can have a lot of fun with this one trying to lather each other up (LOL!). But, I have a feeling it won’t last as long as my bottled shower creams.
The Kiss Lip Scrub
It can’t be a Valentine’s Day collection without something to pamper your lips for a good pucker and The Kiss lip scrub can lend a hand in that department. I maintain that the best thing about this scrub is the edible hearts, I mean come on have you ever seen a cuter lip scrub? LUSH make some of the best lip scrubs on the market and are favourites among many for sloughing off dead and flaky skin on your lips.
